Rosemary Beach Vacation

Where do I start?   We had the best time on this trip.   It was a last minute decision to go and sometimes those are the best ones.   We decided to drive with the girls with an overnight stop in New Orleans which added to the adventure.   We stayed in the French Quarter and ate at Mr. B’s Bistro which was fantastic!   The girls loved it just as much as we did.   The next morning we continued on to Rosemary Beach but not before taking a little drive through the Garden District of New Orleans.

From the time we arrived at Rosemary Beach to the time we left, we were in heaven.   The architecture of Rosemary Beach is so charming and the beach, with their sugary sand and pretty emerald water, was my girls’ favorite part of the trip.   I personally fell in love with Alys Beach….talk about a match made in heaven!   The architecture is exactly my taste and it’s all white!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!   I can totally see us retiring there (if my Cabo dreams don’t come a reality).  A girl can dream!   We also visited Seaside which is the cutest little beach town and drove around Watercolor which is equally as cute.   We will definitely be back soon.    Despite the long drive, the girls did awesome (surprisingly) but I think next time we will fly so we can spend more time there rather than two days in the car.

Dreaming of Rosemary Beach

As parents of two little munchkins, it’s hard to be last minute travelers like we used to be. I remember the days when we would literally jet off on a whim deciding literally two to three days in advance that we wanted to go somewhere. While those days are long gone, I still love being spontaneous and our passion for traveling hasn’t faded one bit. I’ve been thinking of all the places we could go on a VERY short notice with the girls and came up with Rosemary Beach, Florida. After a little research last night, I found that pretty much everything is booked in both Alys Beach (OMG, I was dying over the beautiful homes and architecture here) and Rosemary Beach (which is where I ideally wanted to stay for all the great things I’ve heard about this place). Last year around this time, we stayed at Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas which happens to be much closer but was developed by the same developer, although on a much smaller scale. I am beyond excited because I found an awesome place just perfect for us that just so happened to have availability for the exact dates we were looking for after wanting to pull out my hair seeing that everything was booked through the summer. I’m so excited I could just jump out of my chair! I think it was meant to be.

I might just want to stay there!

Our Vail Trip

In early January, we took Avery to Vail for a fun getaway for a week. I’ve been dreaming of Vail ever since we left a few years ago. It’s such a charming little town with its cute shops, amazing restaurants, gorgeous views, and so many fun things to do. We stayed at The Sebastian right in Vail Village which was a great choice! We put Avery in Ski School but she decided it wasn’t for her this year and preferred ice skating (she did really well for her first time skating) and of course, swimming. Scott went skiing and I decided this year I would forego skiing and try snowboarding so I took lessons. I loved it but oh my, it’s exhausting!

Day Break: Round Top Antiques Fair

I decided that since today was the first day since we moved in that we wouldn’t have contractors in the house doing punch work and the weather has been PERFECT, I would take advantage and run to Warrenton/Round Top to the Antiques Fair. What made it even better was that my life-long bestie came to meet me with her precious little boy, Jed. Toni and I got to catch up on life and also found some goodies at the same time. We got some great deals since it is towards the end and they wanted to get rid of things.
How cute is he? And he was such a happy camper the entire time!
Spent a gorgeous day at Warrenton Antique Fair with Toni and Jed! So much fun! Scored some goodies, too :)

I snapped up that oil painting with frame for $10 within the first five minutes of being there. It has the perfect colors for our family room and tying everything together.

Maui Trip

Scott and I just got back from a week in Maui and it was such a wonderful time! I have to admit it was a little hard leaving the girls behind but we really needed a truly relaxing vacation. It’s such a luxury to be able to do things that we truly want to do without worrying if it will be fun for the girls. We loaded our vacation up with driving around the island taking in the absolute beauty of it all, snorkeling, Parasailing, lots of eating overindulgent meals, spear fishing (Scott), spa time, and reading/sun bathing.

On our first full day, we took a drive down memory lane of the day we got married. We ate breakfast at Longhi’s where I had breakfast with my Mom and sister’s the morning before our wedding, we drove down to the beach where we said our vows, and ate dinner at the restaurant where we had our reception. We didn’t plan it but it was so much fun!

Scott convinced me to go parasailing as well which was quite an adventure. I had never been and I can’t imagine a better place to do it. We also spent a day doing our own thing because I’m not a spearfisher and prefer the spa. Scott loves it and though it wore him out, I know he wishes he could do that all the time.

On our way waiting for our plain in LA at the United Club. We ran into Neil Patrick Harris there as well:

Frio River 2012

Every year we take a family trip to the Frio River, a beautiful and clear, spring-fed river that is perfect for tubing and kayaking on. We’ve been going for as long as I can remember. I love this tradition and continuing it with our girls. I have so many wonderful memories here!

Cinnamon Shores Family Getaway

A couple of weeks ago, Scott booked us a week at Cinnamon Shores in Port Aransas. Last summer, I noticed the new seaside village and was dying to stay there so he surprised me with the trip. He also managed to slip in some work by visiting his customers down in that area.

The home we rented was amazing! It was a great home away from home. We brought our nanny, Adrienne, so we could get some R&R as well. The girls had the best time and it was nice to just spend quality time together as a family for a week without a ton of work-related distractions. Avery and Olivia are growing way too fast and I really cherish these special times with them where I can just focus on them.

Cabo Spring 2012

To say that I’m behind on posting would be an understatement. I’ve been so busy living life that I keep forgetting to update this blog. However, I don’t want the girls to forget these memories and nor do I so I’m forcing myself to catch up!

We went to Cabo with Dawn and Matt for Spring Break in early March. Avery came along with us and Nana and Papa offered to keep Lyla and Livy so they stayed behind. We had a very memorable and wonderful trip from start to finish. If Livy was with us, we sure would have loved to stay there a lot longer than a week. We always enjoy it there so much! I certainly look forward to going back soon!

A Little R&R

I’m looking forward to 1 week of this beautiful place.   I’ll catch up when we get back from this much needed vacation.

Staycation Austin

Before we had Livy, traveling was relatively easy. Afterall, we could take Avery along or Nene would keep her. Now that we have two, it’s a little more challenging. Taking a vacation with both of them really isn’t a vacation and Nayely, our nanny, has school in the evenings. With fast-paced and busy careers, Scott and I really need the time to decompress so we decided a staycation was in order for us. We were able to stay close to home to give us peace of mind while getting a mini-break.

Our weekend consisted of some really fun activities including a culinary course (so yummy), the spa for relaxation, and a heart-pounding course taking us high in the sky while we were tethered to a wire (literally) and climbed a very tall rope net, walked across wire and logs and zipped down on a zip line. I started out brave and ended up shaking like a leaf by the end. It was fun but I was glad to be back on the ground :) Travaasa is an “experiential resort” who prides themselves on eco-friendly everything and fresh farm-to-table food that was outstanding! We met some great people, too. Short and sweet!
