For Father’s Day weekend, we went to Nana and Papa’s farm. We had a great time and spent the weekend relaxing and doing the things we do best when in the country. We also had a treat this time because their new pool/spa was complete. We jumped right in when we got there We spend most of our time outside when we are there. Nana and Papa have an open shop (which Avery still refers to as Papa’s house because he spends so much time there) with a kitchen in it so we just hang out there.Posted by hibnerfamily | 4 comments
We traded the swing out of the family room for this fun bouncy gym and Olivia loves it! She never was too thrilled with the swing because she always likes to see what is going on and loves to stand. This is right up her alley. She was yelling and laughing as loud as she could when we put her in it for the first time last week. It has quickly become her favorite toy.
And of course, I cannot just pick one picture though they are pretty much all the same but her facial expressions are so her!
Over the weekend, we went to Lost Pines Hyatt (will post later) and she started doing this super cute laugh and cry where her voice vibrates. I can’t explain it. Maybe I’ll be lucky and catch it on video. Every time she cries now, I giggle because I don’t know where she got it from and it is so cute. She also does this thing where she tilts her head to the side when she is smiling at you or is really focused on something.Posted by hibnerfamily | 5 comments
Our annual trip to the Frio brought about several firsts this year! It was my first time to go in over 20 years where we weren’t able to float because it was too dry. On the brighter side, it was Olivia’s first time to experience the Frio River and she loved it! From our home, it takes at least 6 hours to get there and it went pretty smoothly both ways. Olivia is so laid back and Avery watched movies.
We had heard a lot about the Frio being really low and stagnant (yikes!) but we were pleasantly surprised to see there was water and though not much to float in, we were able to enjoy just the same by hanging out, playing in the water, listening to music, and of course, eating home cooked food!
5 FAMILIES (over 30 people) + 2 LARGE CABINS + EATING GREAT FOOD + TUBING = PRICELESS
I so enjoy going every year and I hope our girls will come to cherish memories of the Frio just as I have from the first time we went. Texas has many beautiful areas but I would rank tubing or kayaking down the Frio (especially from Major’s crossing) on the top of the list.
Papa & Avery:
Aunty M & Lyla:
Papa, will you da-ance with me?
Lyla sleeping on the river:
Here, they are in a blown up pool, floating on the river (like a waterbed ):

She’s so funny! Here, she told me she was taking her Donkey to school so he could play:

Nana and Livy:
Everyone was just waking up:
Getting ready to go down to the river:

I can’t believe it…we’re all looking at the camera at once:

And she finally gives up:
The guys cooking fajitas:
Mom, Dawn, and Lyla came a couple weekends ago to visit. We spent the weekend shopping and in the pool to cool off from the extreme heat here in Texas.
Lyla all stretched out while hanging out on the back porch:
Olivia and Nana:
Checking each other out:
Mama looking a little rough but Livy has the cutest expression:
I LOVE this smile:
And the silly faces:
Daddy and his girls watching Cinderella:
Here, you’ll notice that she has layered her tutu’s. Sometimes, she will come downstairs with 5 on at a time. She is asking me, “Mom, you want to da-ance with me?” in her best southern accent. I have no idea where she picked up such a strong southern drawl but both Scott and I have very homogenized speech.
And the twirl:
What Avery is up to now:
Avery is such a helper! She loves to help do everything I’m doing at this age. Right now, her favorite movie is Cinderella. She loves, loves, loves, swimming including swimming lessons and always wants us to dance with her. “Mommy, you wanna dance with me?” is a very familar question around here. Of course, I always oblige because I want to cherish every moment I can with her and make her feel special. If you haven’t noticed by now, she loves to wear her princess dress and tutus with the addition of her crown. No matter what clothing she has on, her tutu will be on over it.
Here is a classic example with clothes on + tutu + princess dress playing T-ball:
My favorite thing she does on a daily basis several times a day is when she says, “Mommy?” I say what and she says, “Mommy, I love you!” and then giggles. That always melts my heart!
What is Oliva up to at 4 months old?
-She is trying to sit up. She always wants to see what is goin on.
-She loves to stand up and has such strong legs.
-Olivia is a huge smiler and is really starting to belly laugh. Her laugh is so precious!
-She is a great sleeper, sleeping from 7pm to 6am pretty consistently. She still wants to be swaddled though so we are trying to work on getting used to being free.
-She’s a very social baby and loves to talk and coo up a storm.
-She loves being outside just like her sister! Yay!
-She really enjoys watching Avery and gives her lots of smiles.
These are the days that I wish I could relive. The girls are at such a fun age and we have so much fun!Posted by hibnerfamily | 7 comments
One of our favorite appetizers at home is slices of smoked Cheddar, Braeburn or Fuji Apples, and Crackerthins. It’s Heaven in your mouth!!! Tonight, I decided to share a cheese I found that I absolutely love called Chef’s Prepared King Ludwig Golden Smoked Cheese along with sliced apple and wafer crackers which we enjoyed with a new favorite buttery Chardonnay. Yummy!
