Show Us Where You Live Friday: Nursery

For the home tour this week, you can view a post before Avery was born to see her nursery: http://hibnerfamily.com/2008/03/31/averys-nursery/

I updated it just now with a few new pictures as well.   I have to go pack now.  Fun stuff!  We are headed out of town AGAIN for this weekend.   I have two cousins that are graduating from High School.    I will post later about last weekend in Port Aransas.

Dining Rooms – Show Us Your Home Friday

This week is the week of dining rooms for the “Show Us Your Home” Tour.

Our dining room  has one of my favorite details of the house. I love the coffered ceilings with the dramatic mouldings.  Scott picked out all the moulding pieces for it, and I love the way it turned out with the inset lighting.

Scott and I bought this Butirskiy painting for each other for our wedding present to one another while in Maui. I love the symbolism behind this painting. It has a lot of meaning for us.

Happy-Go-Lucky

Oh, I how I adore this little girl! She is such a fun, happy baby. The other day I was sitting in her playroom and she came up behind me and wrapped her little arms around me and squeezed. My heart melts just thinking about it. She loves to give kisses, and we love taking them, lots of them. Another one of my favorites is that she is always trying to tell us something like it makes perfect sense. On Saturday night while still in Abilene, she woke up around 4:30am because of a loud noise outside and I couldn’t get her to go back to sleep. I laid her in bed with us and she laid there talking to herself for a long time. I really wanted her to go to sleep but I was giggling so hard inside.

Trip to Abilene

This past weekend we drove to Abilene to visit my sister-in-law and the kiddos. We drove up on Friday and the drive takes about 7 hours. Avery wasn’t a happy camper! She is getting all of her back teeth added on top of the fact that she likes to move around and play which is hard to do while in a carseat. Once we got there, it was so great to finally be there. We spent the day with them on Saturday and celebrated Connor and Bridgett’s birthdays. Connor turned the big “5″ and Bridgett turned “16.” Those are both big birthdays! The weather turned out to be rainy but that didn’t stop the boys from swimming in their new pool. Scott was the biggest kid of them all. I don’t think they even realized how chilly that water was because they were so busy splashing around. They had so much fun! Avery wanted to jump right in with them. It was a fun day filled with playing games, swimming in the rain, and yummy hamburgers and cake. We had a fun time, and it’s always great to see the whole West family and Lovey, too! On Sunday, we got an early head start around 10:30 and stopped in Marble Falls for lunch at River City Grille. It was so nice outside and we sat out on the porch right by the lake. I love Marble Falls! It’s such a pretty town. We got home that evening and I have to say, Avery was so wonderful that entire trip back.

This weekend we have another road trip planned. We are going to the beach for some fun in the sun for Memorial Day weekend.

Avery’s First Year Photobook

This is the project I’ve been working on for many, many months.   It’s something I really wanted to do for Avery’s grandmas and also for her to have when she gets older.   I custom made the whole book without using templates so it took me a lot longer to complete. I’m really happy with it.    View the book slideshow here.

Show Us Where You Live Friday: Guest Rooms

For the home tour this week, Kelly chose guest rooms. Our guest bedroom doubles as a playroom so it gets a lot of use! For those who know me, I like to keep things clutter free, clean, and organized! What do you do with all those toys when you don’t have an actual playroom? I got two large toy bins and put them in there and try to keep them easy to access by Avery while still maintaining some organization in this room. After Christmas and her birthday, toys are overflowing in this room. I removed some of the large ones that remain in front of the mirror for pictures. She likes to look at herself while she plays with the big standing toys (not shown) which we use to block her from getting near the mirror as well. We try to be as functional as possible with this space but I’m so looking forward to when we move because we’ll have a separate playroom and hopefully a guest house. Our thinking is if we have a guest house, our city friends (you know who you are) may come visit us folks in the country for a weekend getaway ;) sometimes. I know our family will come visit regardless.

We got these sculptures in Jamaica at Dunn’s Falls. They are about 3 inches tall. A Jamaican man carved them for us. I guess one is supposed to be me and the other Scott. Ha! I like to bring a piece of culture/art back from all our travels. They are reminders of our lives and where we’ve been.

Mother’s Day Weekend Replay

This past weekend we headed to Shiner to spend time with our family. On Saturday we decided to go to Gruene to walk around the cute shops and have a day of fun with the girls. There’s nothing better than an impromptu day trip to one of the many cute Texas towns with the girls! It was really HOT but so much fun! We spent the whole time trying to find a cute hat for Avery to protect her head from the sun. After going through them all, the very last little shop we went in, we found a baby cap. I ended up getting it for her anyway eventhough we were headed on our way out. While we were out toodling in Gruene, Dad and Scott decided they weren’t going to sit around and ended up taking the boat out to the lake and going fishing.

On Sunday, we went to lunch with the family and headed back to Houston. Scott had to hurry and get home so he could fly out to Chicago that evening for an early Monday flight to Wisconsin.

This was on Sunday on the way to lunch. She was SO tired. Check out all those toys. I have them in that little organizer so when I’m driving, I can just reach back, grab one and give it to her. It’s quite convenient. I even use the water bottle as entertainment. She likes to shake the water.
